A decision tree is a tool to narrow possible decisions. This decision tree was designed to allow a non-English speaking person to figure out which lawncare product is needed. The product depends upon whether the temperature is higher than 90 degrees, if the ground is wet or dry, and if it is infested with insects. I tried to achieve a map that could be followed depending on the circumstances of the lawn, leading to the final decision of which product is needed. The decision tree was not one of my favorite sketches we have had to do. It took a lot of creativity to decide on the image that should be used to represent each standard. In order to determine "yes or no" in the tree I used green arrows and red X's. They seemed pretty universal no matter the language of the viewer. It was pretty difficult to create this tree with strictly images, no text.
After finishing the tree I realized that there is always a way to solve a problem. Before starting my tree I took a pretty long time determining what was the best way to do this. I'm sure there are a number of ways it could have been done, some much more complex. I also took into consideration that the audience would know to follow the tree left to right. I tried to keep this one as simple as possible, although it may seem slightly confusing at first glance.
